Jakarta Waterfront Strategy and Implementation Plan

Sonja Lyneham, in association with expert advisors, initiated and, over a three year period, brought to adoption of the Government of Jakarta and creation of a Development Corporation to manage the implementation one of the largest revitalisation and government-led masterplanning / development project in the Asia Pacific Region - the Jakarta Waterfront Strategy. The initial project involved an assessment of reclamation, infrastructure provision, development trends, and environmental and social impacts leading to the development of a strategic plan for the redevelopment of an area of 32 kilometres of waterfront in Jakarta, at the gateway to the city. The project covered an area of some 3,000 hectares (1,500 hectares of reclaimed land and 1,500 hectares of existing land).

Preparation of the Jakarta Waterfront Strategy and Implementation Plan including:

  • geotechnical assessments and development of a project finance package
  • The development of both mathematical and hydrological models for ongoing monitoring of impacts
  • The preparation of draft documentation in association with international and local Indonesian legal teams to establish the JWIB Development Corporation
  • The development of a detailed financial model for the overall project
  • The preparation of a detailed urban planning and environmental management programme

  • Heritage Area – incentives and technical specification and preparation of expression of interest and tender documentation
