Singleton Land Use Strategy and LEP

Planning Workshop Australia was engaged by Singleton Council to produce a Land Use Strategy to inform its preparation of a new Local Environmental Plan (LEP).
PWA first prepared a Situation Analysis to provide background information to support the preparation of the Land Use Strategy. The Situation Analysis also informs the future preparation of a new LEP for the Singleton Local Government Area (LGA). An important role of the Situation Analysis was to provide a profile of the Singleton LGA, and the key land use planning issues. In particular, it established strategic priorities and actions to be considered in the preparation of the Strategy and future LEP.
PWA then produced the Singleton Land Use Strategy which outlines key land use policies and principles for the LGA, and provides the planning context for the preparation of LEP provisions. The intent of the Strategy is to recommend actions for achieving the land use objectives of the Singleton community, consistent with the Council vision, and to recommend changes to Singleton LEP 1996.
The next stage in the project is for PWA to develop a draft LEP which will be completed in 2007/8.
