Jane has 9 years experience in town planning at state/territory and local government level in Australia and overseas. Jane has special competence in planning policy, strategic planning, environmental assessment, social planning and Geographical Information Systems (GIS).
Jane has prepared detailed Statements of Environmental Effects on a wide range of developments and project managed consultants for various projects leading to development applications. She has also prepared a Preliminary Environmental Assessment for a proposed residential subdivision at Coffs Harbour. This project was submitted to the Department of Planning under Part 3A of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979.
Jane has also undertaken structure planning work in the Molonglo and Gungahlin districts of the ACT, including undertaking development scenario modelling for land uses to determine block yield, and mapping of implications of rural leases on settlement planning work.
Jane’s skills in social planning have extended to preparing social impact assessments and crime risk assessments of development proposals, community safety studies to inform regeneration works in Canberra’s city centre, and running seminars on access, mobility and crime prevention through environmental design.
During her time overseas, Jane undertook some significant planning work, including the appraisal and development of Tower Hamlets Council’s Economy and Employment policies in their Local Development Framework and identification of areas requiring further work due to new national and regional policy requirements or other emerging issues, and identifying critical linkages to facilitate “joined-up” governance for cross-sectoral policy development. .
